With the holiday season quickly approaching, Equinox Terrace Assisted Living is preparing to host a fun and spirit-filled seasonal tradition. Local businesses, schools, organizations and individuals are invited to participate in Equinox Terrace’s “Parade of Wreaths.” To take part in the wreath decorating contest, members of the public are asked to decorate an 8-12 inch artificial wreath for the Thanksgiving season and bring it to Equinox Terrace to compete for cash prizes. The wreaths will be on display in the community, and members of the public are encouraged to stop by and vote for their favorite. First place receives $300, second place $200 and third place $100. In addition, Equinox Terrace will donate an equal amount to each winner’s favorite local charity.

  • Participant entries will be accepted at Equinox Terrace (324 Equinox Terrace Road) between Wednesday, November 1 and Friday, November 10.
  • From Monday, November 13, through Friday, November 17, the wreaths will be on display and voted on by the public.
  • The winners will be announced during a special Thanksgiving celebration for the contest’s participants and residents held on Saturday, November 18, at 2:00 p.m., complete with refreshments prepared by the Equinox Terrace culinary team.
  • An award for “Best Student Entry” will also be given for the age categories: grades K-4, grades 5-8 and grades 9-12. Winners will receive $200 for their school, team or club, or the entrant, if preferred.

While Equinox Terrace decorates its community with holiday spirit each year, the residents and team members want to share the spirit of the season with people who live in the area and allow everyone to participate in this festive tradition.

“This will be our third holiday-themed contest to host,” said Ann Bouza, executive director of Equinox Terrace. “In the past we’ve held Christmas-tree and gingerbread-house decorating competitions, and we had a wonderful response from the local community. With the holidays around the corner, we hope this special competition will help to get everyone in the spirit and remind us all that we have many reasons to be thankful.”

Those who want to learn more about this competition or, wish to enter, may contact Ann Bouza at Equinox Terrace at 802-362-5141. Entry forms are available at the community Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the concierge in the front lobby.
