Creative Arts Center of Dallas Announces Annual Membership Show

CAC PRESENTS ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP SHOW AT MARY TOMAS GALLERY

Shows Features 27 Artists Showcasing Diversity of Offerings at Dallas Visual Arts School

 

DALLAS, TX – July 23, 2014 - The Creative Arts Center of Dallas (CAC), a nonprofit community arts organization and school of visual arts geared to beginning, emerging and working artists presents its juried annual membership show Saturday, August 9 through August 30, 2014 at Mary Tomás Gallery in the Dallas Design District.  The juried show is as varied as the classes offered at CAC, including several works of sculpture, mosaic, fused glass, jewelry, drawing, painting, photography and ceramics.  There will be an opening reception on Saturday, August 9 from 6pm to 9pm.

 

Artists included in the show are: Lynn Armstrong, VoJna Bastovanovic, Elizabeth Bentley, Cameron Cariffe, Jo Clay, Catherine Curtiss Zumwalt, Stacy Deslatte, Barry Dominick, Stephen Ellison, Annie Foster, Linda Gilpin, Jackie MacLelland, Sarah Manning, Sherry Mills, Marybeth Otway, Sam Reeves,  Elizabeth Schowachert, Daniel Sellers, Sharon O’Callaghan Shero, Stephen Shockey, Mimi Smith, Pam Anthony Southern, Janna Tidwell, Teresa Venable, Christopher Welch, Jesse Whipkey and Jodi White. 

 

Jurors for the show were Catherine Cuellar, Executive Director of the Dallas Arts District; Lorraine Tady, Associate Professor of Art for the University of Texas at Dallas; and Mary Tomás, Gallery Director at Mary Tomás Gallery.  Funding for the show is made possible by the Office of Cultural Affairs/City of Dallas.

 

Mary Tomás Gallery is located at 1110 Dragon, Dallas, TX, 75207, 214-727-5101.  Hours for the gallery are Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm and Saturday from noon to 4pm or by appointment.

 

Cultivating creativity for nearly 50 years, CAC is a dynamic arts organization and a thriving art community

for a diverse range of students from teenagers to senior citizens interested in pursuing a variety of artistic

mediums. More than 500 classes and workshops are offered each year in jewelry making, glass, painting,

stone carving, mosaic, welded sculpture, photography, printmaking, drawing, ceramics and clay sculpture.

Instructors include well-known artists and educators whose works are in public and private collections.

 

CAC believes that through the creative process we build stronger communities facilitating people to re-imagine their world.   Current outreach programs, including Camp MetalHead, unseenamerica, ArtAbility and Art as a Second Language, allow challenged or underserved children, teens and adults build their creative confidence, transforming lives along the way.  CAC ensures not only quality instruction, but inspiration and support for beginning, emerging and established artists.
