Cedarwood at Sandy residents watching from the sidewalk

Thursday, May 7, signs were waving and horns were honking through Sandy, as family, friends and local first responders showed their support for seniors residents practicing social distancing at Cedarwood at Sandy, a Kisco Senior Living Community. Since residents have been practicing social distancing since mid-March and family visits are limited to FaceTime and window visits, the community wanted to create a grand gesture for residents.

"We can't wait for Thursday's parade. The best part is how it's bringing our entire community together," said Jesse Buntjer, executive director at Cedarwood at Sandy, earlier this week. "It's a great way for our residents to see their families. I know this time isn't easy, but I'm so proud of the commitment our residents have shown and the support from their families as we’ve worked tirelessly to make safety our number one priority.

Over 150 cars showed up, decked to the nines with vehicle paint, signs for loved ones, and even giant "grill masks" for the cars. One resident even got to see her grandchild for the first time from the sidewalk along the parade.
