The special-purpose MK12 rifle bridges the gap between long-range precision rifles and short-range rifles. The stainless steel 18-inch heavy profile barrel uses a low-profile rifle-length direct impingement gas system, helping it stay accurate even beyond 600 yards.

The 12-inch free-floating DDM4 quad rail system offers plenty of real estate for accessories on the MK12 upper receiver, while integrated sling swivel attachment points give you options for a sling. It’s completed with an upgraded Geissele SSA 2-stage trigger with a 2.5-pound take-up and a 2-pound break, which can help with follow-up shots. It’s heavier and longer than the M4A1, but it is accurate for longer distances. The Short-Barelled MK18

The MK18 is a short-barreled rifle, unlike the others on this list. The Government-profile barrel is only 10.3 inches long, making it ideal as a ranch gun since it can easily fit inside a truck or side-by-side. It features an RIS II system, like the M4A1, but shorter. A carbine-length gas system keeps it cycling reliably, with a flash suppressor on the end of the barrel. You need to get ATF approval and a tax stamp before you use it. The MK18 is also available in two pistol configurations, which are not regulated, as they have braces instead of a stock.
