The South Shore of Boston boasts great schools, communities, and people.  Pondering your next move?  Here’s why the South Shore might be the right place for you.

3) Living History

Live like the Pilgrims did (or at least make candles like them) at Plimoth Plantation, a living-history museum where it’s always 1627 (i.e. nobody is texting!). Check out the New Bedford Whaling Museum or, even better, check out some actual whales, in the very place that inspired Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. Go to the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury for the classic Shaker furniture, and stay for the Japanese tea ceremony. If you move to Quincy, the City of Presidents, you’ll find yourself walking the same streets as John Adams and John Quincy Adams- you can even visit the Stone Library that holds over 12,000 volumes.

2) Seaside Living

Gorgeous seaside towns like Hingham, Cohasset, Scituate, and Marshfield offer tranquil settings for both families and individuals.  Unified by their coastal access, South Shore beaches are cleaner than other iconic U.S. urban beaches like Miami Beach and Waikiki Beach according to a recent study by Boston-based environmental group Save the Harbor/Save the Bay*. Farmers markets pop up during the summer months and offer fresh seafood, along with other local delicacies. If you’ve got a boat, kayak, or canoe, there are many local boat launches where you can set off for a day’s adventure in the North River or Hingham harbor.

1) Safety First

Duxbury is one of the top-five safest cities in Massachusetts according to safety and home security company SafeWise, and two other South Shore towns made the top 50: Scituate and Cohasset. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the bustling streets of Boston, Duxbury makes safety a top priority. The Duxbury Police Department uses a community policing philosophy that focuses on building strong relationships with residents and businesses through outreach via bicycle, canine, and traffic-safety units that are on the job 24/7 to protect and serve.

Whether you’re looking for a beachside retreat or a bustling community to raise your family in, the South Shore has what you’re looking for.  Give me a call to start your search and you could be spending the summer by the shore!

And remember, I'm never too busy for your referrals!
