Pin Valley National Park is located in the district of Lahaul and Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. It is found in the cold desert area, home to more than 20 species of animals, birds, and the endangered snow leopard. It is a freezing area of Spiti Valley. This park came into existence in 1987 and is a part of the Great Himalayan National Park Conservation Area. It is situated at an average altitude of 5500 meters above sea level. It has been one of the best national parks for those travelers who are animal and nature lovers, or solitude seekers as it has a stunning assortment of flora and fauna.

The Pin Valley National Park boasts a good number of animal species but the snow leopard is the main attraction of this park which attracts tourists from all over India. For example, Golden Eagle, Snow Pigeon, Raven, Himalayan Snow Cock, Blue Rock Pigeon, Cough, Chukor, and many more.

The Pin Valley National Park has two types of forests: alpine pasture and dry alpine scrub forest which provides a good number of flora, such as Poppulus Spp, Bhutal( Juniperus mecropoda), Bhojpatra ( Betula utilis), Myricaria Shrubs, Salix spp, Juniper and Birch trees, and many more. Apart from these plants, there are many plants with medicinal properties, used to prepare medicines, therefore, many people are interested in plants seen in July and August.

Best Time To Visit Pin Valley National Park From Manali

The climate of this park remains cold and dry throughout the year, and it receives heavy snowfall during the winter or receives average rainfall. The best time to be here starts from May to October. How To Reach Pin Valley National Park

The Bhuntar and the Chandigarh airport are the nearest which are situated at a distance of 245 km and 522 km from the Spiti valley. Spiti Valley is well-connected by road from both these airports. One can easily get deluxe coaches, buses, or taxis run by private tour operators. The journey between Bhuntar to Spiti takes nearly 5 hours or 12 hours from Chandigarh.

If you prefer to reach Pin Valley National Park by road from Manali, you can get buses or private taxis to reach Pin Valley National Park with ease. If you come from Delhi to Manali, you can directly get buses or taxis from Kashmiri Gate to Manali. From there, you can reach Spiti Valley from Manali by hiring tax or boarding a bus as well.
