Residents at The Piper Foster Kittens for Great Plains SPCA

Great Plains SPCA is thrilled to share that the residents of The Piper Assisted Living and Memory Care are the proud new foster parents of two young kittens.

The kittens will be cared for by residents living at The Piper and on-site staff until they are old enough to be available for adoption.  The animals are being housed in a community space for all to enjoy as part of Great Plains SPCA’s newly launched Senior Foster Friends Program.

Studies suggest animal companionship can reduce a multitude of ailments in seniors; helping to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, reigniting memories and providing unmatched emotional support.  Residents at The Piper will name the two kittens in the coming days.

“We are honored to have been selected by the Great Plains SPCA as the first location for the Senior Foster Friends Program,” said Michelle Nichols, community leader for The Piper. “Innovative programming, like Senior Foster Friends, aligns perfectly with our commitment to offering a unique senior living model that changes the perception of how senior living should be.”

Great Plains SPCA invites local assisted living facilities to be a part of its Senior Foster Friends Program.  If interested, please contact our Foster Care Director Kriste Everett at keverett@greatplainsspca.org
