Residents at Woodland Terrace listen to patriotic songs

Friday, residents at Woodland Terrace senior living community in Cary listened in reverence as trumpeter John Morrison played patriotic songs around the campus in honor of National Military Spouses Day. Among roughly 50 other veterans and veteran spouses living in the community, Morrison honors his mother, Anne, whose husband was a Captain in the Army. Photographed playing violin beside John is his wife, Catherine Morrison, whose father was in the service as well.

“Patriotic holidays and recognitions are important to our residents who have a deep pride and love for our country as well as those that have served,” says Matt Towler, executive director of Woodland Terrace. “This performance will hit home for many residents, and honor our veterans and their families well.”

Morrison brought 54 years of trumpeting experience to his performance. He and Catherine played at least two songs at each stop throughout the senior living community with independent living, assisted living, and memory care residences.
