In 1996, ten Christian graduates of the University of Florida dreamed about starting a campus ministry and a campus church that would help connect college students to Jesus Christ. And so, in 1997, they moved to Jacksonville and launched Jacksonville Christian Life (JCL) on the campus of the University of North Florida (UNF). JCL was a student group that was committed to reaching college students and helping them grow in their faith. Ten years later, the pastors and leadership team of JCL began dreaming again. This time, their vision was to launch a next-generational church that would focus on reaching young singles, young families, and the young-at-heart in the broader Jacksonville community. That burden spawned Awaken Church, which launched in September 2008. At our non denominational churches in Jacksonville, Florida, we believe that God created us to be in a community with one another. We are committed to providing a supportive environment where you can explore your faith and connect with others in a meaningful way. Since the launch of Awaken, their passion remains fixed on effectively mobilizing young people and the young-at-heart to God-driven action and empowering them to live mature and missional lives.
