Norterre, the first multigenerational community of its kind, is pleased to announce that the second phase of its health and wellness destination, The Estoria, is now open. The Estoria offers short-term recovery, rehabilitation and skilled nursing in residential suites that overlook the motivational gardens of Performance Park. The Estoria is only steps away from The Aurora Health & Wellness Center, which opened last month and features 65,000 square feet of health, fitness, nutrition and exercise. The Estoria is a four-story, 60-unit sanctuary where people will find the inspiration and motivation to get better, feel better and be stronger. Of the 60 suites available, 40 are dedicated to short-term rehabilitation and recovery, while 20 are dedicated to long-term nursing care.

“We create and support customized rehabilitation plans to help our residents recover as quickly as possible so they can get back to their everyday life and routine,” said Tina Cook, director of nursing at The Estoria. “Rather than confine their rehabilitation to the traditional therapy environment, residents of The Estoria work with licensed physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapists to progress from these initial therapies in our state-of-the-art rehabilitation center to exercising in The Aurora Health & Wellness Center, accessible through a climate-controlled walkway which connects the two buildings. There is no other rehab like this in the city, as each person will stay in a private residence within a larger household with complete freedom to eat when it suits them, sleep when they want and choose how to spend their days. It feels like a home, not a medical institution. At Norterre, people are treated like family because they are not a stranger or just another case on a clipboard. Our team is so excited to be the turning point in people’s journey to recovery, helping them to feel motivated, empowered and in control.”

Residents of The Estoria live in a uniquely designed healthcare Household Model featuring private residential suites sharing beautifully appointed community living spaces and chef-prepared dining. The Estoria’s households feature balconies overlooking the gardens of Performance Park, the central square of the Norterre community where art and music events, tai chi and yoga take place. During the summer, children are welcome to play in the splash pool located within Performance Park, and during the winter the splash pad is converted into an ice-skating rink.

“We are honored to be a part of people’s journey to recovery and will make it as comfortable and enjoyable as possible,” said Steve Shields, chairman and managing partner for Norterre, an Action Pact managed community. “Norterre has always been designed to empower those utilizing our services and to provide them with the leading-edge tools they need to recover faster. Our vision is to bring people together regardless of age, ability or health. This is not just another rehabilitation center. It’s a community of like-minded individuals from multiple generations coming together for the purpose of living a healthier and better way of life. We strive to ensure that we provide not only the best possible quality care, amenities and programming, but also the best possible sensory environment for their stay. At Norterre, we pride ourselves on bringing music, art and nutrition together with medically integrated programs and physician-directed therapies to inspire, motivate, and promote healing. Our goal is to help people be the healthiest, strongest and happiest versions of themselves.”

The Aurora Health & Wellness Center just opened last month and is considered to be the cornerstone for the Norterre community. The Aurora features unique programming and activities – including more than 70 classes per week – to create the ultimate wellness destination in the Northland. Amenities include an indoor running and walking track, four levels of Yoga, group cycle, stretching area, high-impact studio, stretching area, warm water exercise, therapy and lap pools, salon and spa services, massage and other therapy treatments as well as a demonstration kitchen emphasizing healthy food preparation and nutrition. Surrounded in original art throughout the three levels of fitness and exercise, a grand piano greets members in a two-story welcome reception area. The healthy bistro is available with grab-an-go options, as well as menu items designed to promote heart-healthy and nutritional habits. Residents of The Estoria have direct access to The Aurora for those who want to take full advantage of the cutting-edge amenities and programs available at Norterre.
