Picnic at Northshore Park

Northshore is perhaps best known for their hosting of the Concert in the Park series that runs from spring to fall each year and utilizes the stage and pavilion for performances.

Northshore Park offers ample green space to unfold a blanket and enjoy a day in the park. The park also features a public ramp for launching non-motorized boats on Lake Woodlands. In fact, the Rowing Club of The Woodlands calls Northshore Park home and has since 1989.

Also located in the seven-acre park are play areas for the kiddos, two 15’ x 24’ pavilions with electricity, five picnic tables, two barbecue pits and of course a stage with electricity to pump out the live music sounds of the Concert in the Park on Sunday nights. Side Note – For another view of the concert, head over to the boat ramp that is always open during the Concert in the Park.

There are plenty of opportunities to fish from the shore or take out a small boat on the lake. If fishing is not your cup of tea, take to the sand volleyball court also located within the confines of the park. In any case, Northshore Park is perhaps one of the most well known parks in The Woodlands, and has been a staple of local and community events since 1987. Check it out today!

Light the Night Walk Coming to The Woodlands

Light the Night Walk is a yearly event put on to raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in an effort to bring strength and optimism to those battling blood cancers.

“All participants carry illuminated lanterns – white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold in memory of loved ones who’ve lost their battle to cancer to bring light into the dark world that is cancer.”

When and Where?

Walk for a cause in Houston at NRG Stadium’s Yellow Lot, Saturday October 10th at 5:30pm or in Market Street in The Woodlands on Sunday, October18th at 5:30pm.

There is no registration fee to participate in the walk. However, become a Champion for Cures by raising $100 or more, or raise $1,000 or more to join the Bright Lights Club.

Catch a Show at Dosey Doe

Dosey Doe is a local music venue and restaurant in The Woodlands area featuring nationally recognized artists of various genres including bluegrass, country, jazz, and contemporary music.

Three locations span The Woodlands from the Big Barn location on I-45N to the Music Café on on FM 1488, and the coffee shop location off Research Forest in Alden Bridge.

The Big Barn is chock-full of history, originally serving as a tobacco barn in Kentucky and built 165 years ago. The barn was taken apart piece by piece and transported to The Woodlands to be erected once more. The beams used to build the barn are 300-600 years old and made of oak and birch, providing phenomenal acoustics in addition to an authentic rustic look.

A few notable performers headed to the Big Barn in the upcoming weeks include Lee DeWyze, Jason Cassidy, Crystal Bowersox, Phil Vassar, Spyro Gyra and Ana Popovic among others. For the full, current concert schedule, click here.

In addition to the music, the menu should not be overlooked. All entrees are “cooked from scratch” based on the season, and their creations are featured in several cookbooks from Canada to Texas.

The Music Cafe was born out of necessity to make room for all the acts that the Big Barn has attracted over the years. Regional, Texas, and local artists all check out the venue for the “Alice in Wonderland meets the Wild West” ambiance. Try out your chops at one of the open mic nights or stop by for a tasty meal and enjoy some great music.
