I am a resident of Southlake, Texas, having relocated here from North Kansas City, Missouri in July 2017. I am the mother of 3 children. A daughter, Taylor, who is a social worker for hospice patients in Kansas & Missouri. My son Ryan, who is a machinist. And my youngest son, Dylan, who served as a Marine from 2015-2020 and currently lives in Kansas City, Missouri working as an avionics technician. I also have two wonderful grandchildren, Julian, who is 15 and Kami, who is 12. I also have two sweet rescue puppies, Lindsay, and Niko.
I am blessed to be an Attorney working with my sister, Dana White, at her firm, the Law Office of Dana L. White, PLLC, where our focus is family law, wills/trusts/estates, and general civil litigation.
Prior to returning to my native Texas, I had spent 20 years in the legal profession in Kansas City, Missouri, first as a paralegal and since 2006, as an attorney, handling employment-based immigration cases.
I am a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the TX, MO/KS chapters of AILA, the NE Tarrant County Bar Association, the Texas Family Law Foundation, and the American Bar Association (ABA). I am licensed to practice law in Texas and Missouri.
I relocated back to my native Texas after losing my husband unexpectedly in November of 2016, and then my dad in April 2017, and began working in my sister’s office, considering a different life and practice path.
I was born in Azle, TX to parents whose mission was educating, mentoring and coaching youth. Many child experts say that birth order affects one’s personality and behavior. In my experience, that is only partially right. As the firstborn of 4 sisters, while an achiever and self-starter, especially when it had to with socializing with friends, I was probably the most rebellious and defiant of my sisters in my younger years. All you have to do is ask Dana to check the veracity of that statement! She will likely give you an earful or two about that! I was definitely a late bloomer.
Yet, at the same time, by the grace of our merciful God and wonderful, supportive parents, I grew up to be a person who learned to value conscientiousness, diligence, meticulousness, and reliability over my earlier youthful escapades of unruliness and immaturity. Mercifully, I developed into a practiced achiever, and decided at the ripe age of 40 years old, to follow in my younger sister’s footsteps, to go to law school and obtain my law degree. I also attained my Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Kansas at the rather late age of 31. But, as I have learned through my life experiences, and heavy mentoring from my Higher Power, it is never too late to reach for your dreams and fulfill your God-given purpose and mission in life.
In closing, I thank Rotary International for all the opportunities it has conveyed in my life: lifelong friendships, occasions to assist those in need, projects advocating service above self, the persistent fight to eradicate polio, and a relentless commitment to serve our community and our world.
